Our Political Clusterfuck

I’ve been thinking a lot about politics lately. That’s something I’ve never really done before, but it feels important to do now.

I’ve constructed a brief analysis of our social/political environment, shown here. I didn't research this topic- just started drawing a shape on scrap paper that is familiar to us all- the triangle. We're all friends with the triangle and it's use in nutrition- the same concepts apply here.

This particular triangle exists on 3 levels:

1. Foundation: Food and Basic Respect (essential)

2. Middle: Non-Essentials: Everything else (even home and car fall here- we once hunted and gathered)

3. Top: Political choices

In an ideal society, the foundations of food and basic respect are given and accounted for fully. People are taken care of. Since the foundation is strong, the non-essential middle is also fortified because even the poorest in society are doing OK enough to support a healthy ecosystem. At the top, we have our political choices, based on party. Ideally, those choices don't change society much- small differences (We have been a 2-party system in this country for far too long, but that’s another discussion).

In a CLUSTERFUCK society (such as ours currently)- the foundations of food and basic respect are not a given for all. Women, minorities, and immigrants are treated as second-class citizens and must fend for themselves in the wilderness far too often. Medicine is treated as a pseudoscience. Chaos ensues because the baseline isn’t stable. Worse, political parties become polarized and anchored to these basic tenets that should simply be a given. It’s a bad look.

We’ve given the 2-party system within capitalism its fair shot for 250 years. We really have. But things seem to fall apart in such an unstable arrangement especially when political beliefs are aligned exactly to essentials in such a polar way.

I don’t post negative doomsday shit to scare people. I truly believe the center will give out soon and it will either be a great thing or the end of things. Either way, society as we know it is bound to at least change dramatically, especially as inventions that further separate us are coming to us faster than we can handle.

In the meantime, do not tell me to call my local politician. I wasn’t joking about it. They are anchored in the wrong spot and thus completely useless to me. Most of them are financially motivated clowns who do nothing but lie to us and set fire to our dreams in their own pursuit of ego.

We need a full 180 and it may take a revolution to achieve it.
